Govett Brewster Art Gallery Trip

We said farewell to Teagan today and wish her all the best for her new school.

Te Puawai has a trip to  Govett Brewster Art Gallery in week one on Wednesday 26 July (11:00-12:30). We will be travelling by bus but will require some parents to accompany us while we are at the gallery.

We would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday.

100 Books Read

Easy Blog Photo
Congratulations to Adin for achieving his 100 Books Read Goal this week. As a Prize for finishing this challenge Adin got to make his own Stuffed Toy. Adin called his owl Fluffy.

Miranda's Last Day

Over the last Term we have been lucky enough to have Miranda working with us in Te Puawai. She has now finished her placement with us, so the children each made Miranda a Harakeke Putiputi (Flax Flower) and attached a message of appreciation.

Muru Raupatu

On Tuesday our school went to Muru Raupatu Marae.
We had a wonderful day and shared a delicious hangi.
Our thanks to Mrs Trinder and her whanau for their organisation and generosity in order to give us this fantastic experience.

The hangi pit.
Our kapahaka group.

Mr Ritai telling us the story of the gates of Muru Raupatu.

We made thank you notes on hangi rocks
 for the Trinder family.

Some children in Te Puawia helped make
this harakeke  basket to hold our messages.

Mix It Up

Te Puawai have had a lot of fun making a colour tube and discovering why some liquids just do not mix. We learnt some new words like viscosity, dense, dissolve.

Talei-Jean is adding oil to her colour tube.

Crystals

Over the last few weeks we have been very busy growing crystals.
We needed to do a lot of stirring
 and to measure carefully.
Livvie is checking there progress.

The Borax crystals were the most exciting. This was formed overnight.

GRANPARENTS DAY

Today we had Grandparents Day at Frankley School.
What an amazing number of grandparents came to visit and find out about our place of learning.
Thank you so much to all of those who could make it today. Thank you for sharing stories of your school days and more importantly sharing time with your grandchild.
